start swim-by May 18th
finished May 25th at Square Pond DTA
proof swim-by finished May 26th at Gallagher
swim-by pond
water force different pond
in May or later = June 12th
continue to work on OB with distractions
on & off
leash & using heeling stick
note: work on more eye contact (May 10th) much improved
May 18th
increase use of whistle sits doing quite well & now on
maintenance
incorporate chaining of "cap gun sit" end of June not done as
of June 15th
work on multiples - April & May doing
(not much)
increase difficulty of water marks , but keep non-cheaty until de-cheating
finished
de-cheat after swim-by started May 25th
- on going & understands
May 19th - OB........here, sit, heel
(two-sided), long remote sits, backward heeling (both sides)
& off
lead, here/remote sits, whistle
sit (anywhere), force fetch through collar fetch (including
walking collar fetch),
de-bolted, worked mini-pile & 100 yds multiple pile, three legged
pattern
75 yards with two bumper piles,
marking out to 225 yds,
doing
Y drills at 75 yards,
remote sends on marks (out to
195 yards), use to remote wingers, intro'd
orange
bumpers,
introduced 180° doubles & 90° triples, FTP out to 100 yards, doing backs and overs in 3HC,
sits on whistle, turns to sit and take a cast on back piles, walking "poorman" marks with
other dogs are at
225 yards, four
spoke
wagon wheels, with emphasis on precise heeling
started,
sits to flush with chained whistle reinforcement, use to place boards,
introduced
to birds & handles nicely (getting better), finished with single & double T, working on
phase A of the Four Phase Drill, started swim-by,
actually
done two simple cold blinds
(duck pick-ups in water from other dog's training),
very use to
being in the van & group
training, holding blind manners good, calming down in
the
house, very well developed
honoring skills, super responsive in the field, solid
"here"
responses, "very busy mind"
pointing & had 7
pheasants shot over her (on different occasions starting at four months),
very proficient at tower shoots, very "birdy"
in the upland & quarters naturally (excellent),
not afraid to range out and checks in (knows where we are), Daisy will be an
excellent
upland dog when the time comes (she's a natural)
March 8th - nine month old
needs - expecting solid OB everywhere,
no rush on single T
(end
of March), increase marking exercises (more balance)
note: need to narrow OB structure and focus of atmosphere distractions
accomplish this at HRC sessions and training with Brian & group
note: drills and manner of throwing marks need to be focused
note: weakest
link
- wanting to rush things (working slowly is helping) & a
looping tendency on back casts during 3HC (both sides)
note: OB standards "upped" & making a difference
note: introduced indirect pressure & handled it well, very resilient
note: longer marks (210 yards need wider station separations & flagged
or tumbling bumpers), be careful of horizon
April 3rd - almost ten month old needs - continue OB with focus on prompt sit
next to me
(still wants to make a small parade)
note: working slowly is a good thing, keep at the OB
note: weakest link is the bird delivery - not looking for me & "parading",
work on
more eye
contact - April 18 = big improvements, short tab helping
note: need to have someone throw her marks more often, less wingers and
"standalones" doing
note: single T after working some on larger mini-tee = end of April finished
note: intro more multiples started
May 19th - 11+ months old - focus on OB and exposure to new things
note: continue to work slowly and demand more precision
doing
note: do some basic bird handling & OB work - fetch, here, sit and give
note: more multiples & lots of singles doing
note: finish up double T
finished
note: start swim-by finished May 25th
note: proofed swim-by on another pond done May 26th
Gallagher swim-by pond
note: work regularly on wagon wheel variations & start Zig-Zag drill
doing
note: start regular use of walking baseball
doing really well
note: establish pattern blinds (1st one May
21st, June 19th = 6 total, longest 300 yards)
note: work at exit water, heel, delivery then shake routine
getting much better
note: FTW on water different than swim-by pond after swim-by
(done June 12th)
June 9th to date evaluation - continue to strengthen steadiness, work on multiples,
increase focus on
pure marking, start on cold blinds with BB blinds first & the fan technique,
move to
second tier wagon wheel drills (not yet), continue transition to cold tune-up drills, use
same
marking theme with four wingers at two week intervals, start shooting a flyer
every
ten days, introduce return to line marks, get force to water out of the way
note: remote line "standalones" out to 195 yards & cast back to the line
June 12th
note: wagon wheel using place board at the pitchers mound started
June 13th
note: force to water (completed June 12th with
review/proof)
note: work on push/pull drills (doing)
note: OB standards increased using short tab, stick and e-collar (24/7)
doing
note: need to slow down more on delivery during drills (bumper rolling)
doing
note: marking accuracy impacted by recent, heavy push in several skill areas
note: worked on schooled double, but has not done many true
multiples
note: doing "multiple honors" with Kooly and Taffey (water and land)
note: mouth still too busy with bumpers (need to do drill deliveries even
slower)
note: still a "wild child" = at times
note: send to pro for winter trip
evaluation June 20th
